  2 WEEK SNOWBOARD CAMPS
SNOWBOARD COACHING HOLIDAYS IN CANADA'S FINEST POWDER RESORTS

Our snowboard camps provide you with the perfect opportunity to really develop your snowboarding and take it to the next level. Held on various dates throughout the winter these are a great way to have a holiday and really enjoy and improve your riding.

OVERVIEW

How will you fare? Due to popular demand we are now running our 2-week snowboard camps in both Fernie and Whistler.

Got two weeks to spare for a snowboarding holiday? Keen to improve your riding in a fun and sociable environment? Then you have come to the right place. Our 2 week snowboard camps are for those who want to seriously improve their riding in a fantastic resort with fun, like minded people.

We will be running five different 2-week snowboard camps this year:

Fernie:
  • New Year: 27th December 2008 – 10th January 2009
  • Mid February: 14th February 2009 – 28th February 2009
Whistler:
  • Pre Christmas: 6th 2008 – 20th December 2008
  • New Year: 27th December 2008 – 10th January 2009
  • Spring: 4th April 2009 – 18th April 2009

We hope you can join one of these snowboard camps this winter.

COACHING

"An awesome two weeks, great people and well organised. The instruction was brilliant, I learnt lots and loved the cat-skiing. Fernie is a fantastic town with lots of great pubs for evening entertainments!"

Clemmie Innes
Clemmie Innes, 22, 2-Week Improvement Course, Fernie

We have developed one of Canada’s leading teams of snowboard instructors with some of the industry’s most experienced coaches on hand to help you develop your riding and show you the best that these resorts have to offer. You will receive a total of 20 hours of coaching each week (five hours per day, four days per week). The coaching concentrates on developing your all-mountain skills so you’ll be taught on and off piste, through tree runs, in the park and in the powder.

We use regular video sessions to help you quickly correct your technique and over beers at the end of the day your coach will provide helpful analysis and feedback.

CAT-BOARDING (FERNIE COURSE ONLY)

Cat Boarding One of the highlights of the snowboard courses is a day cat-boarding. Similar to heli-boarding, but travelling up hill in ‘snow cats/piste bashers’, cat-boarding is the ultimate powder experience but at half the cost of heli-boarding. You’ll get about 8-9 runs in through the day and the trips up in the cat offer welcome rest breaks and a chance to share stories with your powder companions! This experience provides the perfect opportunity to test your newly developed skills in the untracked powder of the backcountry. (Although unadvised, if you are on a tighter budget you can forfeit the cat-skiing experience and save £150 off the course price).

On our Whistler course Cat-boarding is not included in the package but is still available for an additional £270.

MOUNTAIN SAFETY TRAINING

Avalanche Course In addition to your on-snow coaching we teach essential backcountry techniques including safe off-piste travel, avalanche awareness and search and rescue techniques. This optional one day course is an additional £40 and includes some indoor theory as well as tuition in the backcountry digging snow pits and becoming familiar with safety equipment.

SNOWBOARD MAINTENANCE

Snowboard maintenance session A comprehensive evening session covering board design and construction plus tuning and maintenance techniques including base preparation, edge sharpening and waxing.

NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY

New Year's Eve in the mountains is always fun and we arrange a party starting with a special dinner before enjoying music, dancing and celebrations to bring in the New Year.

FERNIE
"North America's Coolest Town"
- Rolling Stone Magazine

Fernie is renowned for some of the best powder conditions in the world, empty pistes and its friendly laid-back atmosphere. Fernie is a strong contrast to the busier mega resorts and offers a truly refreshing winter holiday experience.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS - FERNIE

In 2007 we purchased the Red Tree Lodge and completed a $1.3 million renovation to make this ‘the place to stay in Fernie’. The lodge offers a relaxed and comfortable place to rest your weary legs after a hard days skiing. Most rooms are twin rooms (two double/queen beds) but we also have a limited number of triple and quad rooms as well. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and stunning mountain views. Facilities include: indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and much more. To find out about our lodge please:

For those wanting a more independent experience we offer the chance to live in a house in downtown Fernie just a few minutes walk from the bars and shops on the main street and from the NONSTOP lodge.

Living in a house will allow more space, privacy and self-sufficiency than living in the lodge. Those living in houses will still be able to enjoy and use all the facilities at the lodge. Each house sleeps between 4 and 8 people and has a comfortably furnished sitting room (with TV, DVD player and stereo), dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Most people share twin rooms although there are a limited amount of single rooms, offered on a ‘first come, first served' basis for an additional charge.

Our top chefs provide weekday breakfasts and dinners that are served at the Red Tree Lodge. Our breakfasts are extremely popular with a vast array of continental style treats, with freshly baked muffins, breads, cereals, porridge, yogurt and fresh fruit. Our suppers are healthy and filling, with 3 delicious courses designed to rejuvenate all those tired muscles.

The NONSTOP shuttle bus will pick you up from the lodge after breakfast to take you to the mountain for another day on the slopes. At the end of the day it will be there to pick you up from the bottom of the lifts and take you home.

On the second course most of you will be staying in a fantastic local B&B run by local friends of ours who are great fun and will really help you get the true Fernie experience. Kirk is a pro-patroller on the mountain and Jenny has ski instructed for many years. Their B&B is one of Fernie’s finest heritage homes and has been lovingly refurbished to create a warm and homely place to stay. The breakfasts are fantastic; you’ll wake to the smell of freshly baked bread each morning and there are both hot and continental options available. Please contact us to find out about the available rooms.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS - WHISTLER

You will stay in comfortable, modern and well equipped houses based in Whistler Creekside. The properties are spacious, homely and fully furnished and range in size from between two to five bedrooms (four to ten people). Most people will share a twin room although there are a limited number of single rooms available. Couples applying together will be offered a private double room - please ring the office for details. Each house has a communal living area with comfy sofas, fireplace, TV, DVD and stereo.

For you to make the most of your time on the snow it's important that you eat well. Whistler has dozens of great restaurants plus each house has a spacious dinning area and well equipped kitchen where you can prepare meals. In addition NONSTOP provide two meals per week at a popular local restaurant when the whole group can get together to socialise and share powder tales.

FLIGHTS

Our package includes flights from the UK to Canada with Air Canada.  Those on a Fernie course fly to Calgary and those going to Whistler fly to Vancouver. A UK member of staff will be on hand at Heathrow to see you off. You’ll then be welcomed into Canada by our course director, before taking the transfer bus to Fernie or Whistler.

We can arrange alternative flight dates for those who are staying in Canada before and/or after their course. Normally there is no additional charge for this, but please check with us for further details.

In the unlikely event that direct flights are unavailable we will inform you of this and then look to book indirect flights instead. It is worth noting that the earlier you book your course the more likely we can secure a direct flight.
